Marie France has maintained a relatively private public profile, so some commonly repeated details about her age, career, and personal life are not reliably confirmed.

The most reliable public information about Marie France concerns her marriage and family connection to Fred Ward.
Who Is Marie France Ward?
Marie France Ward is primarily known for her long marriage to American actor Fred Ward. She became connected with the entertainment world through her husband, but unlike Fred Ward, she has generally kept her own life away from the public spotlight.
Marie France is also referred to as Marie France Boisselle in some sources. Fred Ward and Marie France married in December 1995 and remained together until Fred Ward’s death in 2022. IMDb identifies Marie France Boisselle as Fred Ward’s spouse during this period, while obituary reporting from the Los Angeles Times described Marie France Ward as his wife of 27 years.
That distinction is useful because some online biographies describe Marie France as Fred Ward’s former wife because of a divorce filing in 2013. The available reporting indicates that the filing did not result in a completed divorce.

When Did Marie France Ward Marry Fred Ward?
Marie France Ward and Fred Ward married in December 1995. Their marriage lasted more than two decades and continued through Fred Ward’s later acting career and until his death in May 2022.
Fred Ward was known for films including The Right Stuff and Tremors, as well as numerous television and film appearances. Marie France’s public profile, however, remained much smaller than her husband’s because she did not have the same public acting career.
Did Marie France Ward and Fred Ward Divorce?
No completed divorce is supported by the available reporting. Marie France filed divorce papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court in August 2013, citing irreconcilable differences. TMZ subsequently reported that the paperwork was withdrawn after the couple resolved their issues.
This explains why some websites incorrectly or loosely refer to Marie France as Fred Ward’s ex wife. A divorce filing and a completed divorce are not the same thing. Later reporting continued to identify Marie France as Fred Ward’s wife, including coverage following his death in 2022.

Marie France Ward’s Family
Did Marie France Ward and Fred Ward Have Children?
Fred Ward was survived by his wife Marie France Ward and his son Django Ward. The available obituary reporting identifies Django as Fred Ward’s son, but it does not establish that Django was the biological child of Marie France and Fred together.
For that reason, it is better to avoid describing Django Ward as Marie France’s biological son unless a reliable source specifically establishes that relationship.
Who Is Django Ward?
Django Ward is Fred Ward’s son. His connection to Marie France Ward comes through Fred Ward’s family rather than through a clearly documented biological parent relationship between Marie France and Django.
This is another area where online biography pages can become confusing. A family relationship should not be inferred simply because two people are listed together among a celebrity’s surviving family members.
Marie France Ward’s independent career is not well documented in authoritative public sources. Some online biography pages describe her as a businesswoman or entrepreneur, but the research does not provide sufficiently strong evidence to state either description as a confirmed profession.
That makes a cautious answer more accurate: Marie France Ward’s profession has not been reliably established through strong public sources. Her public identity is primarily connected to her marriage to Fred Ward.
Claims about a specific business career should therefore be treated as unconfirmed unless supported by a reliable primary source or reputable contemporary reporting.
How Old Is Marie France Ward?
There is no sufficiently reliable public source in the available research that establishes Marie France Ward’s exact date of birth. Several biography websites publish estimated birth years and ages, but those figures are not consistently supported by authoritative sources.
Because age is a date sensitive fact, it would be misleading to present one of those estimates as a confirmed age. As of September 5, 2026, her exact age should therefore be treated as unverified.
This is an important distinction between a useful biography and a page that simply repeats information from other websites. When a birth date cannot be confirmed, saying so is more accurate than presenting an estimated number as fact.
What Happened to Marie France Ward After Fred Ward’s Death?
Fred Ward died on May 8, 2022, at the age of 79. His death was reported by major news organizations, which identified Marie France Ward among his survivors.
Beyond that, relatively little reliable public information is available about Marie France’s private life. There is no strong basis for making detailed claims about where she currently lives, her personal relationships, finances, or daily activities.
Her limited public presence should not be interpreted as evidence of any particular event or lifestyle. It simply means that credible public reporting about her has remained limited.
What Is Confirmed About Marie France Ward?
Separating established facts from frequently repeated online claims is especially useful for this biography.
Why Marie France Ward Is Often Described Incorrectly Online
The main source of confusion is the 2013 divorce filing. A page that mentions only the filing can leave readers with the impression that Fred Ward and Marie France were divorced. However, contemporary reporting later stated that the paperwork was withdrawn after the couple reconciled.
There is also a broader problem with celebrity spouse biographies. Once one website publishes an estimated age, profession, or net worth, other sites may repeat the same information without independently establishing it.
For Marie France Ward, the strongest evidence concerns her relationship with Fred Ward and the documented events surrounding their marriage. Details outside that area require more caution.
